A sophisticated cryptographic algorithm prevents unwanted distribution of personal data, including credit card details. IBM researchers have recently announced their intention to develop a technology based on cloud platform that will help users, giving a better protection for their personal data, when they are online, including date of birth, home address and credit card numbers. Identity Mixer allows users to choose exactly what information is to share and with whom. Now web services providers can improve their risk profile and increase customer confidence and everything is in the cloud, making it easier for the developers in the programming process.
“Identity Mixer enables users to choose precisely which data to share, and with whom”, said Christina Peters, IBM’s Chief Privacy Officer. “Now web service providers can improve their risk profile and enhance trust with customers, and it’s all in the cloud, making it easy for developers to program.”
“We wanted individuals to have control over what they reveal about themselves,”said, Dr. Anna Lysyanskaya, a co-inventor of Identity Mixer.
Being available for download and demonstrating that works on smart cards, Identity Mixer is now available for developers as an service easy to use within IBM Bluemix, new platform-service (PaaS) cloud, which combines the power of IBM software with third party technologies, “open”. Starting this spring, Bluemix subscribers will be able to experiment with Identity Mixer in their applications and web services. Using the pull-down menus, developers can choose the types of information they wish to secure and facilitate language Bluemix code that developers will incorporate it into their services.
